ETH AI Center welcomes seven new faculty members across diverse disciplines. From advancing biomedical AI and molecular biology to pioneering nonlinear dynamics and materials science, these distinguished scholars bring expertise to their respective fields.
Prof. Michael Moor - Department of Biosystems Science and Engineering (D-BSSE)
Michael Moor’s interdisciplinary expertise as a medical doctor and data scientist drives his research in biomedical data science. His work focuses on developing machine learning and generative AI models to integrate large-scale biomedical data for clinical applications, aiming to revolutionize diagnosis and treatment. This appointment strengthens D-BSSE's focus on biomedical AI while fostering synergies with the ETH AI Center and regional hospitals in Basel and Zurich.
Prof. Pedro Beltrao - Department of Biology (D-BIOL)
Pedro Beltrao explores the diversity of life and the mechanisms driving evolution. His research examines how genetic variations influence traits like disease susceptibility and adaptation to environmental changes. By integrating structural biology, genetics, and bioinformatics, Beltrao’s team develops models to understand the cellular impact of genetic mutations. His innovative work on post-translational protein modifications advances our knowledge of cellular mechanisms and evolutionary biology.
Prof. Peter H. Egger - Department of Management, Technology, and Economics (D-MTEC)
Peter Egger, a distinguished economist, brings extensive expertise in panel econometrics, international economics, and industrial organization. As a professor at ETH Zurich since 2009, he has contributed to understanding global economic integration and regional economics. His appointment reinforces ETH’s commitment to addressing complex economic challenges through rigorous research and analysis.
