Guidelines, Mentors, Topic Ideas

On this page you find a summary of the guidlines for the fellowships as well as a list of the faculty member that can serve as mentor or co-mentor from the ETH AI Center's Core Faculty and Associated Faculty with their respective topic interests.

Please note that we exclusively accept applications submitted through our online application portal. Applications via email or postal services will not be considered.

Application Process

Applications for the ETH AI Fellowship program are now open.

Application to the program involves three parts: filling in the online application form, uploading the required supporting documents (your degree certificates and transcripts, a motivation letter, your CV, and a 2-5 minute video), and arranging for 2-3 reference letters to be submitted directly to our online system. Two reference letters are mandatory. An optional third letter may further support your application.

Following the application deadline, all complete applications will be reviewed carefully, first by the executive office of the ETH AI Center and then by our faculty members. This will take at least four weeks.

After this time, short-listed candidates will receive an invitation letter to participate in the annual selection symposium in February, where candidates will give a research talk and have 1:1 interviews with potential mentors:

  • Post-Doctoral Symposium: 29-30 January, 2024
  • Doctoral Symposium: 5-6 February, 2024

The symposia are taking place online via Zoom. Save the date for the symposium!

Successful candidates are expected to start their PhD/Post-Doc by or before September that year. A later start is possible after individual agreement.

Selection Committee

The members of the selection committee are: Prof. Andreas Krause, Prof. Melanie Zeilinger, Prof. Benjamin Grewe, Prof. Sid Mishra, Prof. Niko Beerenwinkel, and Prof. Siyu Tang.

The roles of the Fellowship Selection Committee are:

  • Make the final decision on which candidates to invite to the Selection Symposium
  • Make decisions on which candidates will receive offers after the Symposium
