How can AI help make education more inclusive across languages and cultures? ETEL-AI brings together ETH Zurich, EPFL and United Nations partners external page UNITAR and external page UNICC to explore this question. Building on our open-source Ethel platform, we are developing personalized learning support, AI-assisted teaching materials and multilingual tools for international training programs.

Working closely with educators, the project combines hands-on experimentation with research into the quality and fairness of AI-generated content and feedback. Pilot studies in UNITAR courses will help us understand what works in different learning settings and geographies—with the aim of creating reusable and scalable tools that support learners and teachers across the wider United Nations system.
